Do you need a grant writer?
A professional grant writer can be a real asset to your organization when applying for funding. Grant writers understand how to write a strong proposal and the process in completing the proposal on time.
Remember a grant writer is only as strong as the information provided. They do not always have enough information about your organization to effectively tell your story. This requires you to be an active part of the proposal process.
When you hire a professional grant writer, remember, you control the process. Be sure that you've reviewed the proposal and have the systems, staff and plan in place so your grant writer can produce the most compelling and powerful grant proposal for your organization.
Know that grant proposals written in-house are successful. No one knows your organization better than those who provide the direct services. Grant proposals written in house require a collaborative effort, involving multiple levels of the organization in collecting data, narrative descriptions and application review. Your board of directors my also be included in this effort. Although, in-house grants are successful they require a costly commitment of organizational time.
